*Believe me, I know the media. The minute I heard of Marilou Danley’s pending return to the un-United States after being out of the country while her boyfriend, Stephen Paddock, changed history by delivering the largest mass shooting ever, I felt nothing but sorrow for her.
I mean literally, my eyes began to well up with tears.
I had a gut instinct none of this was of her doing. She asked for none of it. That son-of-a-bitch shipped her out of town while he put his plan into motion.
Still, I suspect her life will never be the same. I knew that as soon as her plan landed on USA grounds, she would be met, hounded and practically forced by FBI agents to provide an answer to the ‘Why?’ question. Field reporters would be practically falling all over each other to get the slightest clue upon which a story can be built.
All I can say is I’m glad she lawyer’d up.
“He never said anything to me or took any action that I was aware of that I understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen,” Marilou Danley said in a statement read by her lawyer outside FBI headquarters in Los Angeles. She had been speaking with the FBI all day, and had previously told her brother, Reynaldo Bustos — who called her as soon as the atrocity hit — “my conscience is clear.”
It is that, a clear conscience, that may save her spirit.
The moment the media learned Stephen Paddock had recently wired $100K to the Philippines, was it really that difficult to piece together, especially knowing his girlfriend was “out of the country” he was sending the money to her?
According to the Associated Press, Danley, who had been overseas for more than two weeks, said she was initially pleased when her boyfriend wired her money in the Philippines to buy a house for her family.
But her joy was short-lived. She later though Paddock was trying to break up with her. Her mind wasn’t on some sick plan, her mind was on the fact that her boyfriend all of a sudden wanted her to go back home; and once there, sends money for her to buy a house.

“It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone,” she said.
Danley’s sisters in Australia said in a TV interview that they believe Paddock sent her away so she wouldn’t interfere with his murderous plans.
Danley, 62, was called a person of interest by investigators. She said she loved Paddock as a “kind, caring, quiet man” and hoped they would have a future together. She was devastated, she said, by the carnage and would cooperate with authorities as they struggle to get inside Paddock’s mind.
Stay with me here people. Can you imagine being in this woman’s head right now? I have known many Filipino people in my lifetime and have seen them as kind, loyal and loving people. It sounds like this sick bastard used her.
Again, because Paddock doesn’t fit the general profile of a mass murderer/terrorist, the authorities are having a hard time piecing together a motive.
What they do know, is that this dude planned this attack intricately.
The Mandalay Bay Hotel extended to him, free, a suite that usually goes for $590. This complimentary room was given to him because of all the times he has visited and spent tens of thousands of dollars in wagers at the casino in the past.
But other than his love for gambling…and apparently gun…no one really knew this guy.
Not even his girlfriend.
“He was a private guy. That’s why you can’t find out anything about him,” his brother, Eric Paddock, said from his home in Florida. As for what triggered the massacre, the brother said, “Something happened that drove him into the pit of hell.”
