*In what she describes in court as a desperate attempt to save her 2-year-old daughter from her enraged, jealous ex, Jessica Wilson is seen in a video (scroll down) exiting a car with a child in her arms at the drive thru McDonald’s window and attempts to hand the toddler over to the waiting arms of a McDonald’s employee. Prosecutors say the worker told Wilson, “Hand the child to me.”
In the video, the man who was apparently driving the car, and has been identified as the father of the young child, immediately jumped out of the car to obstruct Wilson’s attempts and snatched the child just as she was about to be handed over, put the child back into the car (with her siblings) and drove off.
Wilson was left desolate and badly beaten, with two black eyes, bruises, a cut on her head, and a bite mark on her hand; begging someone to “please call 911.”
You didn’t have to witness this first-hand to feel the horror. And although no one ever knows exactly what went down prior to what the pictures actually show, I ask you.
Does it really matter;?
Aren’t we sick and tired of seeing or hearing about children being used as pawns because the parents can’t get it together? In this case, all I can even care about is the fact that a child / children are in danger.
And pictures don’t lie — at least not this one.
With that said, this is how things were described in court.
The surveillance video was at the center of Crossley’s trial, which began on July 16 with opening statements?before Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Jody Luebbers.
According to reports on Cincinnati.com, Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Broo called it ?a night of sheer terror? for Wilson that began when Crossty?broke into the house where she was staying with her four children. The?27-year-old Delhi Township man?is the father of the youngest, a 2-year-old girl.
When Crossty drove away from the Sayler Park McDonald?s, all four children were inside the Pontiac Grand Am.
Earlier at the house, Broo said Crossty climbed in through a window after pushing in an air conditioning unit. He confronted Wilson about being unfaithful.
According to testimony given by Wilson, she attempted to lock herself in a restroom, but he kicked the door in.
?He was ranting and raging,? she said.
Although Wilson said she has no recollection of how they ended up in the car with the children, the beatings, she said, escalated, and Crossty demanded her Smartphone passcode — which she eventually gave him.
She does recall telling him that the children needed to eat, so this is how they ended up at McDonalds.
Crossty is charged with felonious assault, theft and?multiple counts of abduction and kidnapping.
But his attorney,?Stephan Madden, certainly paints a different picture of the events that led up to this decision.
?There is no abduction, there is no kidnapping, there is no theft,? he said, claiming Crossty was attempting to “save the children from their intoxicated mother.”
