*Lizzie Dunn, a white woman whose face may be forever disfigured after it met with a can of acid, knew she was lying when she told police that a Black woman panhandler had sprayed the substance on her; after she refused to give her money.

But she told the lie anyway…even filed a police report.

Dunn told police a black woman in her 40s sprayed acid on her face when Dunn didn?t have cigarettes or spare change to give her.

?I didn?t know the person,? Dunn, 52, told the Daily News. ?She then asked for money, and I told her no and sorry.??It seemed like she was spraying a lot of times, like she had to keep pressing the nozzle,? she told CBS  ?With my right hand I tried to grab the can and knock it out of her hand, and with the left hand I was trying to shield whatever spray she was misting on me.?

Such detail for what investigators later learned was a bold-faced lie. And why is it so very easy to place blame on Black people? This piece of work is not the first to do so.

Dunn ended up running into a nearby deli for help. Andrew Kenwood was working there on this night, and told NBC, ?We thought it was a prank at first. She came in here, she was banging on the door, banging on the door. She was almost fainting and falling. ? When I tell you it was absolutely horrible ? it looks like her face is melting off.?

Dunn was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital, where she was treated for third-degree burns to her face, neck, and left hand.

After an investigation, Dunn’s lie was revealed and she confessed to what turned out to be self-inflicted wounds.

On Tuesday, NYPD?s 123rd Precinct tweeted the following with regard to the incident.

?The alleged acid assault in the Woodrow area yesterday has been found to have not occurred. The injuries were self-inflicted and there is no perpetrator. There is no threat to the public.?

Police believe Dunn, who was discovered to have previous self-inflicted wounds, used a spray bottle for this last one. No intent to charge Dunn for filing a fake police report.
