These A-List Folks Had Other ‘Areas of Interest’ Before They Became Famous, Ya Know!

*If you’re anything like me, your mind is always moving; trying to learn new things and figure old stuff out. Then there’s the curiosity factor, which led me to wonder what some of our favorite celebrities were interested in before fame found them.

Look what or I should say WHO…popped up in the process!

Before he became one of the busiest actors on the planet, Samuel L. Jackson went to Morehouse College in Atlanta and majored in Marine Biology. Reportedly,  he had a stuttering problem as a child and was helped by learning to “pretend to be other people who didn’t stutter.” He is said to have used the curse word motherfucker as an affirmation. Can you believe this strong actor still has days where he stutters? Jackson stumbled into the world of acting when he took a few classes to earn extra credit in school.

During childhood, Sam had a stuttering problem. While he eventually learned to “pretend to be other people who didn’t stutter” and use the curse word motherfucker as an affirmation word, he still has days where he stutters.

Kerry Washington wasn’t always scandalous. She actually graduated college Phi Beta Kappa in 1998; with a double major in anthropology and sociology. As is the case with many actors, Washington started her acting career doing Industrial Films — short educational films used for training purposes. Did you know she is a cousin of former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell?

Halle Berry is living proof that even gorgeous people have to bust their ass to make it! Before she moved to NYC to began an acting career in 1989, this beauty lived in a homeless shelter for a short time. Berry actually attended Cuyahoga Community College to study broadcast journalism. So glad she ended up in the acting world!

Seems everybody wanted to be a journalist initially, but after attending New York’s Fordham University to study in the field, Denzel Washington took an interest in acting. Denzel actually learned to appreciate the “art” of storytelling after accompanying his beautician mom to work. As in all salons across the world, its the best place to hear some great stories!

Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’ actually had dreams of becoming a nurse. Oh! How happy the world is that her healing spirit took a turn to music, which she always had a knack for. Turner captures her sheer awesomeness this way: “Physical strength in a woman…That’s what I am!” Miss Tina, you are simply the best…still!
