Teen Pens Heartbreaking Post Just Before Family is Swept Away By Hurricane Harvey

Devy Saldivar, Facebook

*Hurricane Harvey continues to wreak havoc through Texas and Louisiana. A New York Times Update places the death toll from the storm at 30 and there is no indication the floods will subside any time soon, as more rain is expected.

But as we learn more about the path of the storm, and hear from some of the residents within its grasp, we now learn about a Facebook post from a teen who is believed to have drowned – along with her three siblings and great-grandparents.

Sixteen-year-old Devy Saldivar wrote ?No sleep & anxiety, please let this pass sooner,? around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. A few hours later her great-uncle, Sammy, attempted to drive the family to safety, but the floodwaters came and overwhelmed their van near the Greens Bayou, according to what relatives told NBC News https://www.pharmacybc.com/ambien-zolpidem/.

?The water picked the van up, and it was just floating after that,? Uncle Ric Saldivar told ABC 13. ?It went head-first in, and water came in real fast.?

According to a New York Post article, Sammy managed to unbuckle his seat belt and pull himself out of a half-open window, calling to the others to get out as he grabbed a tree branch.

?He called it a twig,? Ric said. ?A 2-inch little branch.?

But as the van submerged, it became apparent that it was too late.

?That keeps playing in his head,? Ric said, holding back tears.

?Sam calls my husband and tells him, ?They?re gone,’? the children?s grandmother, Virginia Saldivar, told the Associated Press. ?That?s when my husband dropped the phone and started screaming.?

Devy, Daisy, 6, Xavier, 8, and Dominic, 14, are presumed to have died along with their great-grandparents, Manuel Saldivar, 84, and his wife, Belia, 81, authorities said.

?My brother-in-law saw the van go under the water,? Virginia said. ?We are devastated.?
