Inspiration is a tricky thing. You never know where its going to come from, or how its going to play out.
You probably wouldn’t expect a child to be moved so deeply by a group of homeless people, that he takes it upon himself to do something about it. I mean really, adults pass by these unfortunate souls daily and many times, offer nothing more than a “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
Enter?Jahkil Naeem Jackson, no ordinary young man.
After an aunt took him with her to feed the homeless one day, his life changed. “I was sad because they didn’t have the items that other people have to just start the day or end the day,” Jackson says in a video on his website.

No one was more surprised, proud and excited than Jahkil’s mother, Na-Tae’ Thompson, who admits that as an “only child” her son is “very selfish.” Thompson said, “So this showed a very selfless act” (see her remarks at video on his website).
Young Jahkil set his plan to do his part into motion and started with a goal. He wanted to pass out 1,000 Blessing Bags by February. The bags are put together by Jahkil and his family and separated by gender. Items inside include?toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, combs, shampoo, water, sanitary napkins, towels, tissue, soap and other items that folks in the community donate; as well as donations by organizations such as Heartland Alliance; a worldwide advocacy organization for the homeless, who has now tapped Jahkil to be the Youth Ambassador.
Interesting fact: Naeem, Jahkil’s middle name, means to?give without expecting anything in return.
By the start of August 2016, Jahkil had passed out 735 Blessing Bags.
With the support of his family, Jahkil has started a 501(c)3 called “Project I Am.” The organization allows youth and anyone interested in branching out similar acts in their communities to do so.
