Wedding bells rang for Erin Goldberg on November 11th, and moments before the ceremony she donned a pair of sweatpants and an old cat t-shirt.

At this backyard wedding, with friends and family gathered around, Erin revealed herself for the first time that day to her groom, Ean, much to his amusement.

?I mess with him all the time and I thought it was a really good opportunity for me to prank him because I don?t dress up very often,? Erin told People about her viral bridal pajama prank.

Grooms not seeing their bride before the wedding is still a popular tradition, and certainly, one that Erin used to her comedic advantage. This practice originated back when arranged marriages were popular so the groom wouldn’t run away.

The average number of wedding guests, according to a KNOTs Real Wedding Study, is 136 people. Most soon to be married couples experience wedding day jitters, and pulling a prank like this in front of a big crowd can’t make it easier. Or can it?

Erin recounts the viral moment with Yahoo, ?We will remember how much pressure it took off the rest of the wedding day process having started off with that hysterical, laughing moment that just the two of us shared.?

The anticipation and anxiety of weddings washed away from that moment forward, and soon after the laughs were had and the cake was cut, the now married couple has been nothing but smiles.

Not afraid to tell their tale to journalists, the newlyweds haven’t had much of a chance to take it all in. With a honeymoon to come, relaxation awaits before rejoining day to day life. In fact, 53% of Americans feel relaxed after a vacation, and it looks like the Goldbergs are due.

Ean’s response to all of this? “[S]he still looked drop-dead gorgeous.”

The path ahead of them is one many have traveled before, but the ability to laugh together at silly jokes is an optimistic sign of a bright future.
