Corpus Christi residents ‘shocked’ when more than money comes out of ATM machine (Watch)

Officer Richard Olden showed up on the scene

*“We have a once-in-a-lifetime situation that you’ll probably never see or hear about again,” this is what Corpus Christi (Texas) police officer Richard Olden told a local Fox affiliate

And boy was THAT an understatement!

Although the bank itself had been closed down, people were still able to use the functioning ATM machine. So just imagine walking up, putting your card and code in, and getting your money…

…along with a note that says, “Please help.”

Sidebar: Is this a good time to tell you how the old show ‘Candid Camera’ (I’m dating myself) played a joke on me?

Well one after another, each person who got the note thought it was some kind of prank. Looking around for the culprit(s), each one shook their head and walked away, probably laughing.

The notes came out from the receipt section of the ATM.

“Please help,” one note read. “I’m stuck in here and I don’t have my phone. Please call my boss.”

Thankfully, one person took it seriously and contacted the police.

NPR.com reports,

“We come out here, and sure enough, we can hear a little voice coming from the machine. So we’re all thinking this is a joke ? this has got to be a joke,” Olden said.

But after passing some shouts back and forth, the officers went around and busted down the problematic door. And because no crime was committed, the man was not only free, but he also was free to go.

“But you’ll never see this again in your life,” Olden said. “It was just crazy.”

I didn’t reveal how the man got in there intentionally. Please watch the video to learn this for yourself. It’s rather funny!

But before I go let’s revisit MY ‘Candid Camera’ prank.

I innocently walked up to the mailbox to drop in a letter. When I opened the shoot a voice inside said, “And how are you today, little girl?”

Yes, I did run like a bat out of hell. But the crew, hiding in the bushes nearby, was laughing so hard I heard them and ran over. I was a good (but scared) little sport in the end.

OK, here’s the video. But what would YOU have done if this ATM incident happened to you?
