*After Trump’s signing of the latest $900 billion stimulus bill to help cash-strapped Americans during the ongoing pandemic, many should be on the lookout for second stimulus checks. However, millions more may be among the groups who don’t qualify for the payment.
Here are the groups of Americans who won’t receive a $600 check in the second round.
– Child dependents who are 17 years old: The IRS tax code defines “qualifying children” as those who haven’t yet hit their 17th birthday. The IRS will use 2019 tax returns to determine stimulus payments, which means that teens who hit their 17th birthday in the second half of 2020 — after tax returns were due to the IRS — could still qualify.
– Adult dependents, from college students to seniors: This includes most college students who are claimed as dependents by their parents. Older adults, from seniors to disabled individuals, who are claimed as dependents are also excluded.
– Single people earning over $87,000 and married couples earning over $174,000: Although these individuals won’t receive the $600 themselves, single people and couples with incomes above those thresholds would still receive payments for their children, as long as those children are under 17.\

In a statement, Indiana University Health responded to a video of the now-deceased Dr. Susan Moore’s account of her denial of adequate care by hospital doctors.
The head of the hospital system, Dennis Murphy, suggested that Moore’s attempt to get what she believed was adequate care likely “intimidated” the nursing staff. In her video, Moore said the hospital staff left her unattended for hours without medication as she laid in pain.
The hospital statement reads:
I also saw several human perspectives in the story she told – that of physicians who were trying to manage the care of a complex patient in the midst of a pandemic crisis where the medical evidence on specific treatments continues to be debated in medical journals and in the lay press. And the perspective of a nursing team trying to manage a set of critically ill patients in need of care who may have been intimidated by a knowledgeable patient who was using social media to voice her concerns and critique the care they were delivering.
“I do not believe that we failed the technical aspects of the delivery of Dr. Moore’s care,” Murphy added. He also said the ordeal will spark the IU system’s efforts to ensure they are treating all patients equally and launch an internal and external review of her case.
Southwest Airlines announced that it will avoid furloughs after Trump signed the latest coronavirus stimulus bill. The airline was close to furloughing more than 6,800 employees, which would have been the first time the company furloughed employees in its 50-year history.
American Airlines will also bring back all furloughed employees since the bill will become law.
