Ain’t No Stopping Us Now: Photo of this Ghanaian Educator Teaching MS Word to Students Via Chalkboard Goes Viral

*Students at Betenase M/A Junior High School in Ghana are required to pass a national exam in order to graduate. The exam includes computer technology. Sounds doable, right?

How so, if they don’t have access to computers?

Enter brilliant and resourceful teacher Richard Appiah Akoto, the students’ 33-year-old information and communications technology (ICT) teacher who is determined to give them the tools they need in order to compete with the likes of students that do have computer access because of the affluent areas where they live.

Akoto posted photos of himself online, writing what looks like extremely detailed code, in multicolored chalk, on a blackboard. Is it no wonder he received a chorus of global applause as a result?

The teacher, who goes by the name “Owura Kwadwo Hottish” on Facebook, said…

?This is not my first time [of drawing] it. I have been doing it anytime I am in the classroom?I like posting pictures on Facebook so I just felt like [sharing it]. I didn?t know it would get the attention of people like that?, Akoto, who goes by the name “Owura Kwadwo Hottish” on Facebook, told Quartz Africa.

Akoto has been teaching at the school for six years.
